Pilates Summer series for Active Agers Beyond Pilates
Utilising Chairs, matwork, Small balls, exercise bands, and light weights we will build an understanding of the principles of:
- Balance and Proprioception
- Strengthening for bone density
- Mobility for Joint health
- Foundational work for the feet, hips, shoulders and spine
Suggested Age for classes is 65 + and for those who are able to access The Garden Studio in Gasworks Park.
Lorraine Magasanik has been teaching Pilates for 12 years. She is passionate about helping to keep others moving and moving well. Intelligent movement with a focus on tailored instruction for the varied bodies and needs. Lorraine focuses on the bodies requirements at each stage of life.
Movement is the best tool for maintaining the health of joints and connective tissue. But it needs to be physiologically appropriate movement that supports our lifestyle.
We need to wiggle our toes, hydrate our hips and perform optimal shoulder function, for our Joint health, Bone health and nervous system. Regular movement is protective for the body, as is the ability to get up and down from the floor.
Lorraine has worked with a diverse clientele, and in particular has looked after many senior clients and helped them navigate their way into their 70’s and 80’s, and through Shoulder replacements, knee surgeries, hip replacements and back surgery.
