Of the Sea and Sky Cynthia Ellis

Cynthia Ellis born 1954 in Winthrop Massachusetts USA arriving in Australia 1983. Recently relocating to the Peninsula area in 2018. Ellis, throughout the 30 years of her painting practice remains committed to the abstract and expressing colour representation through the connection of semiotic relationships of colour and mark making. Ellis continues to exhibit in solo shows, group shows and artist residencies.

Travel and relocating has always brought a new perspective to my palette.

Driving throughout the Peninsula I have absorbed the ever changing colours within the the various seasons. In particular, the bay and the light, which has brought a new sensation to my painting palette. These paintings, pre lockdown, have taken a slight variation from abstraction to expressing the semi abstract.
