High Voltage

On the first Saturday of Spring, Gasworks will come alive with a full day of live music, art and craft markets in collaboration with Rose Street Artists’ Market, food trucks, family-friendly activities, workshops, exhibitions, open artist studios, and more.

As part of Gasworks’ 40th birthday celebrations, Spring in the Park will be our biggest community event yet, bringing together artists, performers, makers, and audiences from across Melbourne for a vibrant celebration of creativity.

At the heart of the event is High Voltage, an all-ages rock concert featuring participants from across our diverse communities.

High Voltage is a large-scale participatory performance involving more than 100 local musicians, dancers, and singers. Blending music, dance, and performance, it will showcase the talent, energy, and creativity of young people in a dynamic and contemporary celebration of community.

Everyone is invited to join us and experience a day filled with creativity, connection, and the joy of participation.

MUSIC

Paul Kelly Band/RocKwiz Orkestra

The RocKwiz Orkestra is the resident house band for the iconic Australian musical trivia television and live touring show, RocKwiz. Led by drummer Peter “Lucky” Luscombe, the band backs guest artists, performs covers, and anchors live stage shows alongside hosts Julia Zemiro and Brian Nankervis.

Queenie

Raised on Lutruwita/Tasmania’s vast, open landscapes and now based in Naarm/Melbourne, Queenie’s work carries a sense of expansiveness, self assurance and feminine power.

Known for her emotionally charged songwriting and electrifying live performances, she continues to build a reputation as a singular force within Australia’s alternative landscape. Queenie’s songwriting has already garnered national attention, with her single Not Divine shortlisted for APRA 2025 Song of the Year that also saw her take out the APRA 2026 Professional Development Award in the Country/Americana genre.

With performances at Panama, Beyond the Valley and Party in the Paddock festivals under her belt + recently lending her powerful vocals to Naarm punk band Private Function at their final show, it’s clear that Queenie’s musical prowess cannot be confined by scene or genre. She is here to be heard and the people will listen.

Charles Jenkins (Icecream Hands)

Charles Jenkins is a Melbourne songwriter/musician, producer and performer with more than 30 years experience in the Australian Music Industry. He has released 21 albums, toured Europe and the USA several times and been nominated for two ARIA awards with the Icecream Hands. A published songwriter of more than 30 years, his songs have featured in local and international television and film and have been recorded by other artists, including Rebecca Barnard and Kerri Simpson. He has performed on the SBS music show RocKwiz and has co-written songs with Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything), Angie Hart (Frente) and Suzannah Espie.

Pitchface

Pitchface is a community choir made up (almost entirely) of women and non-binary peeps from Melbourne’s inner west. What started as an idea among four friends over a boozy dinner in Footscray has grown to a joyous ‘no experience necessary’ singing squad of around 120. Expect songs you wouldn’t expect from a choir. This group has a particular love of late-80s ballads and the dance hits of the 90s (but tbh, nothing’s off limits). They’re high-key obsessed with double denim and a red lip.

Bay Street Brass

Bay Street Brass performs lively and energetic music that is perfect for dancing, with a focus on Traditional Jazz and contemporary New Orleans Brass Band styles, as well as bits of Ska, Reggae, and other genres.

RAWCUS – Power Line 

Power Line is a new public performance from award-winning Rawcus Ensemble and Gippsland’s (it’s no) drama, with musician Zachary Pidd. An ensemble with and without disability forms a perfect line, then breaks it, climbing, crowding, dancing, bending the rules, all driven by a live percussive score. Playful, rebellious and unpredictable, it’s a piece about the systems that hold the ones we can reclaim and us.

The Spirit Ditch

An independent Melbourne-based band blending blues, roots, and atmospheric sounds.

Diamond Dogs Dance Troop

A passionate group of volunteers who bring the energy, colour and noise.

PUNK ROCK DOG SHOW 7PM -7.30PM

Calling all four legged rockers! Show up and enter your pup into the Punk Rock Dog Show. There will be prizes to win and a doggy dancefloor to enjoy. Who will be crowned the king or queen of barkness?
