John Meade
John Meade is a Melbourne artist whose sculptures explore the metaphysical and the surreal in the everyday.
He has presented over twenty-five solo exhibitions throughout Australia since 1995. He has been awarded significant public sculpture commissions, most recently, Asterisk Kolam (2020), for the Monash University Chancellery building commissioned by ARM Architecture/Monash University Museum of Art, and, Love Flower (2019), the 2018 Southern Way McClelland Commission for the Peninsula Link Freeway, Langwarrin. His solo exhibitions include Sign Language (2021) at RMIT Project Space and Something for Everyone (2019) at Sutton Gallery, Melbourne. Recent group exhibitions include Connecting the World through Sculpture: In the Air (2021), curated by Charlotte Day, Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA), and the TaraWarra Biennial 2018: From Will to Form, curated by Emily Cormack. His work is held in distinguished public collections, including Heide Museum of Art, Melbourne; Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney; and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.
