Midsumma at Gasworks
Gasworks has been the south-side precinct for Midsumma Festival and a summer destination for high-quality arts for more than 11 years. Midsumma is Australia’s premier queer arts and cultural event, bringing together a diverse mix of LGBTQIA+ artists, performers, communities and audiences.
We are calling out for artists and companies to express interest in being involved as part of our Midsumma program in 2027! We are looking to build a diverse, inclusive and experimental program spanning drama, comedy, circus, music, theatre, performance art as well as a curated visual arts program.
Performance stream
Are you looking for a perfect venue for your next Midsumma performance? Gasworks has two theatres to suit your needs, as well as a unique blank canvas space for experimental theatre. All Midsumma programs will receive a venue hire discount. A select number of shows will be chosen for co-production or part of the Gasworks Presents program, these projects will not need to pay a venue hire fee and will receive additional production support.
