What Your Donation Creates
In Common
This program, generously supported by the Foundation donors will premier at Gasworks before heading to Federation Square as part of the Fringe Festival 2023.
The work is by One Fell Swoop Circus, whom the Foundation has supported in the past. In Common sees a sculpture brought to life by eight acrobats using the company’s signature style of acrobatics. It combines great personal skills with strong compositional structure and choreographic sensibility.
Speaking about the message of the work, In Common co-director, Charice Rust states, “It’s an exploration of tension both structural and relational, In Common lets you experience the joy of throwing yourself into someone else’s arms and the warm weight of bearing them.”
And Gasworks is very happy to be able to make this a free event!
Renewal
Fourteen Resident Artists participated in this very successful project, creating original and thought-provoking work in response to the theme of Renewal. It was a celebration of life and our return to optimism, highlighting a sense of resilience and recovery through the artists’ individual visual interpretations of the organic nature and life force of the Gasworks Arts Park.
The exhibition was a great success with estimated 120 visitors per day and a very well-attended and enthusiastic opening night.
Circus in The Park
This program, supported by the Foundation donors was a huge success with the audience. It entailed the transport and installation of significant staging and seating outdoors; it was only the Foundation’s support that made it possible. The show went on to wow very excited audiences across 2021, 2022 and 2023.
In 2023 two brand new shows by Red Canvas were presented, dazzling and delighting the audiences.
‘Suitcase Circus’ – set in the glory days of the past, this energetic world-class show featuring aerialists, jugglers and balancers turned out to be an instant crowd favourite. ‘Hot Summer Nights!’ – an outrageously fun circus cabaret hosted by the exuberant Tash York. It was a night of big hair, laughs and insane skill – a night that we believe will be remembered by many.
