Design by Touch Ceramics

Artist Kristin Burgham leads an innovative ceramics workshop during Melbourne Design Week where participants design and make ceramic objects using their sense of touch. At each workshop, participants will build their own unique clay vessel, using specially made interlocking plaster moulds. The vessel will be kiln-fired after the workshop, creating a porcelain object for each participant to keep. This workshop is inspired by Kristin’s teaching experience and exploring design opportunities for people who are blind or have low vision.

Design by Touch Ceramics is proudly supported by the City of Port Phillip Cultural Development Fund and is presented by Craft Victoria. Melbourne Design Week is an initiative of the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria: designweek.melbourne
