Montague School Art Exhibition
Montague School is a school in South Melbourne providing unique learning opportunities for students aged 15-18 with an intellectual disability. While the school building is 136 years old, the educational philosophy driving the school involves the most up-to-date educational theory and delivers the Victorian pathways certificate using a negotiated curriculum that takes into account the personal needs of the individual learner.
All students are given an opportunity to participate in the art program which provides them with a creative outlet and an opportunity for self-expression while exploring a range of different media. Art sessions are conducted under the supervision of experienced art teacher Tony Senese who has a unique ability to inspire and enthuse every student regardless of artistic ability. The pieces in the exhibition show that disability is no barrier to visual creativity and provide a unique insight into the lives of our students.
