Montague School provides a unique learning opportunity for students aged 15-18 with an intellectual disability. The educational philosophy driving the school involves the most up-to-date educational theory and delivers the Victorian Pathways Certificate using a negotiated curriculum that considers the personal needs of the individual learner.
Recent renovations to the historic building have provided the students with a brand-new, purpose-built art room that is spacious and well-lit, offering opportunities for the school community to paint, sculpt, draw, craft, and express their artistic abilities in whatever way suits them best. Art sessions are conducted under the supervision of experienced art teacher Tony Senese, who has a unique ability to inspire and enthuse every student, regardless of their confidence or artistic ability.
We are incredibly proud of our students, especially as this marks their first year in VET – Visual Arts. Their engagement and willingness to try different techniques and approaches have been truly remarkable, showcasing their growing confidence and creativity. The pieces in our 2024 exhibition reflect this journey of self-expression, highlighting the talents of students who are eager to experiment and push their boundaries.
It’s wonderful to witness the whole school approach to supporting the arts, fostering an environment where creativity thrives and every student feels encouraged and supported to explore their artistic potential.
