Subir” (To Rise)

Through moments of hardship and happiness, we RISE with strength and unity!

Flamencollab presents, “Subir” (To Rise), an honouring of our personal and shared journeys of change and growth through the medium of flamenco dance and music. Be witness as we share our joy, pain, beauty and power in full expression.

Our cast of 50 dancers will explore a range of palos (branches of flamenco song traditional to the gypsies of Andalusia, Spain) and interpret 17 colourful and diverse dance pieces. Our performance will be accompanied by recorded and live music and feature disciplines such as bata de cola (long skirt with train), manton (shawl) and abanico (fan).

“Subir” features the students of Flamencollab, accompanied by esteemed musicians, Kieren Ray (guitarra), Keka Otero (cante), Mandy Company (cante) and Cherie Morgan (cante y palmas).
